editorial illustrations

I developed the foundation of my illustration skills by trial and error working at The Daily Orange, the independent, student-run newspaper of Syracuse University. I was able to play with a bunch of different styles and mediums, like watercolor and photoillustration, to make visuals that were eye-catching and different from one another.

Often working on the tightest of deadlines, I collaborated with layout designers, editors, and journalists to create illos for print, social media, and online pieces. We were all working together while flying by the seat of our pants and having a ton of fun trying to create each issue.
